Pat Green has been awarded a special Crystal Cross award from the American Red Cross for his service to the organization. He is a member of the organization’s national celebrity cabinet. Green began giving blood in college and has recorded public service announcements for the organization. “It meant a lot to get this award from the Red Cross,” he said. “Anything I can do to help the Red Cross promote blood donations — especially during the summer — is on the top of my to-do list. Giving blood is giving the gift of life.”

A 1992 concert by Billy Joe Shaver at Nashville’s Bluebird Café will be issued on CD for the first time on September 11 by Sugar Hill Records. Storyteller: Live at the Bluebird 1992 was recorded just before the release of Shaver’s Tramp on Your Street, an album that put the songwriter and his guitarist son Eddy in the spotlight among alt-country fans. Selections include “Georgia on a Fast Train,” “Honky Tonk Heroes,” “I’m Just an Old Chunk of Coal” and “Live Forever.”  Todd Snider contributes the album’s liner notes.

Jack Ingram will team up with Dierks Bentley for a Fall 2007 tour running October-December of this year, hitting many key markets. Jack, who will be the main support act on the tour, thinks his music aligns perfectly with Dierks’ audience: “I’m really looking forward to heading out on the road with Dierks. I’ve been a fan of his since he first came out and I think musically we’re going to hit a lot of common ground. Guys like Dierks and Gary Allan and Pat Green and Keith Urban are all expanding the format right now. They’re incorporating the traditional elements of country music and taking the music to another level with attitude and emotion. I can’t wait to share that energy on stage with Dierks. It’s gonna be a great tour!” Specific dates will be announced shortly.
