Guadalupe River News

First the good news. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers plans to reduce the flow from the Canyon Lake dam from 4,000 cfm to 600 cfm for the weekend which will provide excellent tubing conditions. The floodgates will be opened again Monday morning until the lake returns to its normal level, which could happen as early as Tuesday, at which point the flow would be reduced again.

On a sadder note, a veteran of Iraq had drown last Saturday while swimming across the rain swollen river near Slumber Falls. Tuesday two fisherman found his body near the railroad crossing at Preiss Heights. Spc. Bryan D. Brosemer, 26, of Utica, N.Y., was declared dead by Comal County Justice of the Peace Jennifer Saunders. He was stationed at Fort Hood with E Company of the Aviation Unit and had served in Iraq.
